Apr 09, 2023Here goes another experiment!!
It sorta all started with the Learnings and Missteps Podcast, I needed an outlet to highlight Careers in the Construction Trades. There was no guarantee anyone would listen but it was worth a shot. I learned that it wasnt as hard or as easy as I thought it would be. The easy part was interviewing spectacular guests and sharing their story with the Omniverse. The hard parts are all the behind the scenes work: editing, images, scheduling, posting etc..
The experience the Podcast provided opened my mind to 3 things:
- I can bring ideas to life
- Ideas take work that is currently invisible
- Going from Idea to Action drives Self Discovery
The next wild idea was sharing some letters that contained deep wisdom but I didnt know exactly how. Those letters had been in my "safe" for over 3 years then the outlet revealed itself. I reached out to my good friend & partner in crime Jennifer Lacy and pitched the 5S in Relationships Live Streams idea. Jennifer agreed to take the leap with me.
The original plan was 5 Livestreams tying the letters to Relationships in the workspace. The first episode changed our plan, the audience wanted more of the personal / real stuff and less of the work type stuff. So we decided to explore our vulnerability by sharing our stinky truths, personal truths. This created a magical situation, the audience members began being vulnerable WITH us. Through this experience we made a huge discovery! We asked our selves "What is happening, How is this happening, How do continue to nurture this" We landed on the SRRR cycle. (the name needs work) but here is what it means:
- S: Show up
- R: Receive
- R: Reflect
- R: Reciprocate
Show up: Have an idea, show up and share it. Just keep showing up
Receive: Take it all in. Take in the reaction, responses, and feedback from the group
Reflect: Allow the experience to sink in
Reciprocate: Give back what you got
It is this thinking that NoBS with Jen & Jess is built upon. What is NoBS with Jen & Jess? Well, that will be on the next Blog post ;-)
