Maximizing your Presence on LinkedIn

Sep 21, 2024

I can't help but think about my presence on LinkedIn—where I started, where I am now, and where I'm headed.

Before I began this journey, I was rarely active on LinkedIn. When I did venture onto the platform, it was mostly to share someone else's brilliant insights or to like or heart their posts. The reason? LinkedIn seemed like a playground for experts—absolute ballers who were dominating their respective fields. I didn’t feel like I had anything to add to their conversations.

Fast forward to today, and LinkedIn has become a space where I spend a considerable amount of time. What changed? I realized something profound: all these experts and industry leaders are human beings too. They have fears and vulnerabilities, just like you and me. This revelation gave me the courage to start sharing my own thoughts and experiences.

Here’s what happened when I began putting myself out there:

  • Connection Through Vulnerability: Sharing your journey, complete with its ups and downs, resonates with others. It calls out to them, encouraging them to step into their own power and take action.
  • Empowering the Lurkers: There are many individuals on LinkedIn who are actively observing, learning, and engaging in the discussions, but not necessarily sharing their own voices. Your vulnerability can be the nudge they need to share their unique perspectives.
  • Creating Impact: By contributing your voice, you enrich the community with fresh ideas and experiences, fostering a more diverse and inclusive dialogue.

So, how much is it really going to hurt to share that thought you've been sitting on? Here’s a simple challenge:

  1. Share a Thought: Take that idea and put it out into the world. It doesn't have to be perfect; it just needs to be genuine.
  2. Tag Someone: Tag me or anyone else who inspires you. Let's build a supportive network that lifts each other up.
  3. Engage the Community: Join the No BS tribe and watch as your voice starts to gather wind beneath its wings, propelling you forward.

Remember, your voice matters. Your experiences, your insights, and even your vulnerabilities have the potential to inspire and uplift others. Embrace the opportunity to influence and connect on a deeper level. Be cool, be brave, and let’s continue this conversation.

Peace.
